The word stuck in my head.
And has, for 15 years.
It's so simple.
I wasn't even sure what to make of it at first.
One of my customers in my then-job's account managed territory wrote some really nice stellar comments when solicited for my review.
And then I came to his last comment: "I thank Kris for her capable service."
I wasn't sure if it was a compliment or a 'meh' comment.
Over the years, I came to see it as one of the best compliments of all.
Why? Because we're seldom told we're capable. It almost sounds like it's an accusatory statement when we're not living up to our potential. At least that was my history and interpretation of it.
Plus, it wasn't the practice of my company to use reviews to pump up employees or recognize their good work. It was standard practice to let employees know they were merely satisfactory - no matter how hard they worked or the great quality of their work - and therefore would not receive much of a raise. Yay.
Don't buy into the lies. Don't live in doubt. Don't live in fear. Don't live in anxiety. Don't live in your comfort zone.
Pursue Your Dreams
You are capable of so much more.
Go for the job, the income, the car, the relationship, the move that seems big and scary and maybe outside your capabilities.
Push past your built-in terror barrier.
Don't listen to what others tell you about having limited abilities, and don't listen to what you tell yourself about having them, either.
You are capable of far more than you - or possibly others - give yourself credit for.
No Time for Lies
Don't get to the end of your life and regret what you didn't push yourself to do.
Spend five minutes on yourself and watch this video that I shared on my Facebook page this week. It should be required viewing of every adult, yearly, throughout our lives.
No Fears. No Regrets.
Don't let today's fears be tomorrow's regrets.
You are capable. God gave you all the abilities to do life as you want to do, and he probably placed the desires of your heart within you, too. Don't waste the chance to go after them. Don't regret not using your full abilities.
You are capable of carrying out whatever your heart's desires are in this life.
You are capable of busting through any and all fears.
Go for it. You got this.
You are capable.
